About

Poker Game Theory Club

Poker Game Theory Club is LMU’s premier poker club and a community for students who want to play, study, and improve at the game. Poker rewards clear thinking under uncertainty, and we use it to build analytical and decision-making skills that carry over well beyond the table.

Players of every skill level are welcome. Meetings cover everything from hand rankings to game theory, and members put what they learn into practice at free games and tournaments played with chips that have no cash value. Members interested in coding can also join our Poker Bot program and build their own poker AI.

Membership is free, and no money is ever bet at club games.

How a meeting runs

  1. Strategy session

Probability, hand ranges, and game theory, with beginner material every time.

  2. Free games

Members put what they learn into practice with chips that have no cash value.

  3. The ledger

Results from every game go on the ledger and add up across the term.
